Wyborowa Exquisite vodka

one of Poland’s best

This is a review of Wyborowa Exquisite vodka from Poland. I sampled it in Germany in 2011. It’s clear, 40% alcohol, owned by Pernod Ricard, and I thought it was great.

The very first thing I noticed about Wyborowa Exquisite vodka was the bottle design: the cap seems to mimic an ice cube. My friend Max pointed out that he would have preferred it to be of the same diameter as the bottle, but we still agreed that it looked pretty nice.

more marketing strategies

As it turns out, Wyborowa owns the domain wodka.com – this is because vodka is spelled with a “w” in Poland. I remember the site used to have some Polish rock tunes and a button where you could hear people from different countries pronounce the name Wyborowa. But there seems to have been a redesign.

Now it looks a bit more upmarket. As far as vodka websites go, it’s the same as always – a bunch of cocktail recipes and some company lore. Turns out that Wyborowa vodka – just like Absolut – is owned by Pernod Ricard.

One thing I appreciated about the website was their illustration of the production process. It was simple and clear. I like this better than all the fancy words.

Their introduction to Wyborowa Exquisite vodka was a bit underwhelming, though.

I also found a huge Facebook page (350,000+ followers) and an Instagram account (2,500 followers) that seems to post under a totally different, edgy brand identity.

I guess the main takeaway is that this vodka is made from only one type of rye, which has an awesome name: DANKOWSKIE DIAMOND. What’s not to love?

Wyborowa Exquisite is top-shelf brand

Anyway, back to our review of Wyborowa Exquisite vodka. I thought it tasted awesome (especially after some of that bottom-shelf vodka before), and I was surprised by how smooth it was. On top of this it had an aftertaste that was aromatic and warming, close to perfect.

There is one downside to this vodka, though: it doesn’t come cheap. They make you fork out 28€ for 700ml, but I guess that’s part of their marketing strategy. Wyborowa Exquisite vodka is a premium brand.

If you get a bottle of this, drink it neat and at room temperature. It is that good.
